State Visit with Her Excellency Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada

On April 14-24, 2010, as a Canadian delegate, Louise Otis accompanied Her Excellency, The High Honourable Michaëlle Jean during a State visit in Senegal, Congo, Rwanda and an Official visit in Cape Verde.

At the request of the prime minister, the governor general undertook State visits in Central Africa. During these visits, the governor general has built on existing international relationships and strengthened ties across a broad range of sectors of Canadian life.

A multi-faceted delegation of people from across the country  has accompanied the governor general on State visits to convey a sense of Canada to the host countries.

Communique de la Faculté de droit de Université McGill

Louise Otis se joindra à la Faculté de droit le 1er septembre 2010, à titre de Senior Boulton Fellow.   Madame Otis se consacrera à la préparation d’un cours sur la médiation et ses procédés qui sera offert à la session d’été 2011.  Madame Otis compte aussi participer activement aux activités facultaires et étudiantes qui touchent la résolution des conflits sous toutes ses formes.

Dispute Resolution Mediation Skills for Judges from Around the Globe


Louise Otis will be teaching the Mediation skills training program at Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. The training team is composed of 7 faculty and mediators, including judges.

This unique Mediation skills training program for judges is a result of a partnership between the Conference for International Mediation for Justice (CIMJ) and the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University School of Law (Straus). CIMJ is a newly created International institution committed to advancing mediation among the judiciary around the world.


Louise Otis is Co-President of CIMJ.
